The director of the 15th annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, the Reverend Michael Hall, says more than a thousand readers, including children and a dozen members of Congress, have taken turns day and night, in all kinds of weather. He says the marathon started in the rain on Monday, providing "perfect special effects" for the Genesis account of Noah and the flood.

Hall says volunteers read the Bible, believing the promise in the book of Isaiah that the Scriptures will accomplish God's work and change people's lives.
