Geneva County Road Signs Dispute

The director of the Geneva County E-911 board says it's time for local officials to cough up some money.

By state law, E-911 officials say it's the county's responsibility to pay for and install street signs.

Currently, E-911 has pays those expenses.

Sheriff Greg Ward says the signs can mean a difference of life and death when an ambulance is looking to find a residence on a rural road:

"We need to have those street names on the signs in the event of an emergency. I’ve been with the department for 28 years; I don't know where all they are," said Sheriff Ward.

Representatives from the county and E-911 board will soon meet and work to come up with a compromise.
