A fatal car accident in Bay County, Florida, claimed the lives of two people late Thursday night.

78 year old Ray Tipton of Homewood, Alabama, and 76 year old Emmalene Young of Panama City Beach, Florida, were killed in a head-on collision.

They were driving on State Route 30 in Bay County when, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report, 17 year old Tyler Chance Wert crossed the center median and hit their on-coming car.

Tipton and Young were killed on the scene and neither were wearing a seat belt.

Hello. For all of you that are saying that Tyler is a bad kid, you are wrong. You don't know him, so don't judge him. He made a mistake, a big one, and I'm not saying he shouldn't be in jail, but don't say that he is a horrible person based on one mistake. He is my family. He knows that it is entirely his fault and he will live with the guilt for the rest of his life. He doesn't need people saying that he deserves to die just because you think it shouldn't have happened. Why isn't anyone making a big deal about the kid who killed a cheerleader in St. Pete Florida? To me, that was a worse crime than what Tyler did.

For those who are defending Tyler think if someone driving impaired killed someone from your family would you want them to get a slap on the wrist? This kid made his decision and now he has to live with it and if god "spared" him why not the others in fact why would god let the accident happen in the first place then. If Tyler spends the rest of his life crying because of what he did then good I hope he never sleeps well again because those people he hit they don't get to cry or sleep because he KILLED THEM.

I think that Tyler Was doing something he knew better then to do and now he has to to lie in the bed he made. If he didnt want this to be his life he should have thought about that before huffing and driving!

If tyler wert does end up going to jail, there are alot of people that will be devestated. I love that kid, and no one should be pinned as murderer for something like this... a car wreck could happen to anyone of us at any time and could have the same results. Think to yourself, if that was your child, would you want to see them locked up, when they could have easily been the one killed. Tyler Wert got lucky, wy should he be punished because God spared his life. And God did it for a reason. Tyler Wert is going places and fast. If you knew him, then you would see, that even this is not going to stop him. He is strong.

First of all those elderly people didn't have that much longer to live anyways. Why take another young life for a simple mistake? None of you know Tyler. I do. He was eaten up by the accident and still cries about it to this day. The point is that he made a mistake & he shouldn't have to pay with his life...
