28-year old Tim Padgett, a Green Beret, was killed in the line of duty while serving in Afghanistan.
Padgett's special forces team along with members of the Afghan national army corps were conducting patrols Tuesday night when they attacked by Taliban fighters.
Padgett joined the Army National Guard before graduating from Walton County High School in 1997.
He then served as a firefighter in his community before becoming a Green Beret. His mother says there is something about him she will always remember.
Padgett will always be remembered as a good son, a good father and a good patriot.
Padgett is survived by his 8-year-old daughter.
His relatives says they are not sure when his body will return home, or when his funeral will be held.
