Atlantic's 1st Named Storm Still Southeast of Savannah

MIAMI (AP) - The first named storm of the year continues to be centered southeast of Savannah, Georgia, and northeast of Daytona
Beach, Florida.

The National Hurricane Center says Subtropical Storm Andrea has ctop sustained winds around 45 miles-per-hour and continues to move west at about three miles-per-hour.

At 2:00 pm, Eastern time, the storm was about 100 miles southeast of Savannah and about 135 miles northeast of Daytona Beach.

The storm's winds have been blowing the smoke from wildfires across Georgia and Florida.

Forecasters say no significant downpours are expected over land through at least Thursday morning.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for parts of the two states, meaning tropical storm conditions are possible within 36 hours.
