Train Depot Renovation Funding

The Dothan City Commission has been given an ultimatum use 1.1 million dollars or loose it.

The federal funds have been available for five-years now and will go toward the Downtown Dixie train depot.

The Wiregrass Transit Authority is having the old building renovated for office space.

Mayor Pat Thomas said, “My hope is it will help change that area. Already, you have businesses sprouting up in and around there. But the more money you put into it and in this case it's federal money, the better the area looks and the more private investment comes after that.”

The city only had to put 80,000 dollars into the project.
