Counterfeit Social Security Cards

Four Mexican immigrants living and working in Dothan have been arrested for using counterfeit social security cards.

All the suspects confessed to obtaining the cards illegally from a Mexican male living at Garden Estates trailer park on Hodgesville Road in Dothan.

The immigrants bought the cards for 200-dollars apiece.

“Whether or not the numbers of the victims are alive or deceased, we don't know. All we know is they had accurate social security numbers," said Chief Deputy Don Valenza of Houston Co. Sheriff's Dept.

The four suspects were arrested, each charged with 2-counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Each of their bonds is 5,000 dollars.

Six months or more ago my brother-in-law was on the internet and came across a site that listed social security numbers of deceased persons. Both of my parents names and numbers were listed. Do not know the internet site but it was easy enough to find.

The biggest complaint I've heard about illegal immigrants is that they work under the table and don't want to pay taxes. What people don't realize though is that if you are an illegal immigrant you cannot obtain a social security card to be able to work on the books. I do not condone obtaining fake identification, however, something should be in place to make it easier for those immigrants living in the U.S. to obtain proper id.

That would be poor illegal Mexicans Rebecca. Perhaps instead of complaining about all of the Drug dealings you claim to have witnessed in the local area, you could report these happenings and follow through with appearances in courts to convict these dealers. The police are bombarded daily with calls of “My husband won’t listen to me” and “somebody is blocking my mailbox” calls. All the time which is wasted by officers having to respond to these non-sense calls deters them from actively pursuing real time theft and criminals. In addition, perhaps you could lead an active call for change of legislation and local laws which allows for repeat offenders to be back on the streets within hours of being locked up for possession with intent to sell. The local law enforcement is under paid as well as has a judicial system in place which is manipulated and corrupted daily. Do you part, and then complain.
