FORT RUCKER, Ala. (AP) - A Fort Rucker woman is in federal detention in Wakulla County, Florida, charged with second-degree murder in her daughter's death.

Rebecca Christie awaits extradition to New Mexico where she lived on Holloman Air Force Base with her former husband, Derek Wulf, who is also charged with murder.

She married Michael Christie, an Army medical lab technician stationed at Fort Rucker, last December.

The U.S Marshals Service took Christie into custody when she was
in Pensacola for an unrelated court hearing April 2nd. Her daughter died of malnutrition and dehydration in late January 2006 and her death was ruled a homicide.

It took more than a year for the government to return an indictment against the couple.

Christie was also charged with aiding and abetting. Wulf faces charges of aiding and abetting as well as child abandonment. He has
been extradited to New Mexico and made his first appearance in federal court April 16th.

I personally know each of the individuals in question. Although, there were faults by both the husband Derek was in Virginia on Air Force Business trip for three weeks when the call came that his daughter had passed. Very unfortunate and he left his daughter in a bad situation but never can anyone imagine their wife and mother of their children being capabale of this.

Why would anyone do this? There is no way either parent could be innocent because you can tell when a child isn't being taken care of. There are so many people out there that can't have there on children, people if you don't want your children then put them up for adoption or let someone take guardianship for them for you. Children are the most precious thing that God gave us.

Would like to believe it is all a mistake - cannot think of anyone doing this to a child. Know the Truth in Montgomery - Both parents charged and child is dead - did one parent not notice what was going on?????

What is ironic about this story is that the unrelated court hearing involved the father of her other child in a custody dispute. Lets hope the father gets custody once and for all.

Rebecca Christie and Derek Wulf should have to spend the rest of their lives in prison, where they only recieve bread and water, except Sunday,s they recieve water and bread....

This story breaks my heart. My husband and I just recently found out that we will not be able to have children together. This story brings about such strong bitterness. Why would anyone hurt such a blessing from God.
