Alabama senior citizens now have a toll-free number to call to get answers to many of their legal questions.
Governor Bob Riley announced Wednesday that the state department of senior services has implemented the Alabama Elder Law Helpline.
Its set up to assist seniors with questions on a number of legal issues including wills, trusts and financial counseling.
The department has partnered with legal services to provide the helpline and staff it with an attorney and paralegal.
People age 60 and over can call the elder law helpline at 1-866-456-3959 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
The helpline staff is trained to understand the specific needs of senior citizens and can help direct them to other senior services.
