A man held employees at gunpoint while he made away with an unknown amount of cash, and already police are following several leads in the case.

The incident happened just after 8 o'clock Thursday night. Officials are hoping the public will call in with information to help them make an arrest.

At 8:25 Thursday night Headland Police were dispatched to a robbery.

Headland Police Chief Mark Jones said, "One employee was outside cleaning up in the front when he was approached by a suspect who produced a firearm, made him come back in the store, and then the suspect bound all three employees with duct tape."

He then took each employees cell phone and forced one employee to hand over cash and security tapes. Friday the employees are still reeling from the incident.

Chief Jones said, "They weren't physically injured but they were emotionally traumatized, especially one of the women. Going through a situation like that where someone produces a firearm it's a traumatic experience, but fortunately no one was hurt."

Police say the suspect is a black male about 5’ 11” to six feet tall, weighing between 180 and 200 lbs. He was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered during the entire incident.

Fred's is located off of Highway 431 and police are hoping because it's in such a visible area that someone in the public will have information that will help lead to an arrest.

Chief Jones said, "We encourage anyone with information that may have seen anyone off Solomon Road they can contact the Headland Police Department at 693-2222.

Police are not losing anytime working to make an arrest.

Chief Jones said, "When we've got someone brandishing a firearm and threatening to do bodily harm and going into a store not knowing what they are going to get, we definitely need to get them off the streets."

Officials say the suspect in this headland robbery case could be connected with several robberies in Dothan. They'll just have to wait until they make an arrest to make that final determination.

If you have any information about the robbery, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 793-7000.
