Autistic Child Dead in Weekend Drowning at Black Warrior

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A 6-year-old autistic boy who was reported missing Sunday evening was found drowned in the Black Warrior River.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's officials say they received a call about the missing child around 6 pm.

The Sheriff's Office responded with the Dive Team, Tactical Unit, Helicopter and Mobile Command Center.

Deputies spotted the child about an hour and a half later along the banks of the river.

They began CPR, but the boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
