Since the beginning of the semester, the student body association at Wallace Community College has been working on turning their campus into a greener place.

Today was their official kick-off day.

From pledges of "going green" to recycling old cell phones and soda cans, students are making strides in changing their everyday habits.

"I found out today that a lot of schools all over the country are doing this so it's like we are finally joining an environmental community that's been going on all over the country that we weren't involved with before," says Dothan District 5 Commissioner Taylor Barbaree.

Students are hoping to get receptacles for newspapers in the near future.
