Alabama officials meet on hurricane preparations
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley meets Monday with emergency officials on state plans for the June First start of hurricane season.
Riley says all the key leaders on hurricane preparations will meet to make sure Alabama is as prepared as it possibly can be for what is predicted to be an active hurricane season.
The planners, including representatives from state and federal agencies, will run through a simulated worst case scenario - a Category Five hurricane hitting the coast near Bayou La Batre, the fishing village still recovering from Hurricane Katrina's strike on Aug. 29, 2005.
