On Thursday, November 12, 2009, Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police arrested three male subjects that are believed to be responsible for an on-going rash of recent business burglaries in the City of DeFuniak Springs.

Arrested were:

Christian Jahmal Freeman, DOB 04/19/1989, 221 North 11th Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida – Charged with five (5) counts of Burglary to a Business, Grand Theft and Criminal Mischief.

Deonta Keshawn Smith, DOB 08/07/1991, 209 Graham Avenue, DeFuinak Springs, Florida – Charged with five (5) counts as a Principle to Burglary and Principle to Grand Theft.

Tiyari Rashard Hogan, DOB 02/26/1990, 220 Vann Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida – Charged with five (5) counts as a Principle to Burglary and Principle to Grand Theft.

Officers located the suspects at a local motel, after responding to several early morning reports of break-ins to local businesses. Once the suspects were located and arrested, the DeFuniak Springs Police and the local Office of the State Attorney partnered together to secure two search warrants for the rooms of the suspects. DeFuniak Springs Police and the Office of the State Attorney served the search warrants at the local motel and Investigators recovered numerous items of evidence, linking the suspects to multiple local business burglaries throughout the City.

The investigation is on-going with additional charges expected as well as other possible arrests being made.
