MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) - Officials say an explosion that tore0 apart a Melbourne apartment complex killed a baby and a man. Seven others were injured.
Melbourne Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief Greg Anglin says the explosion at Tucker Heights apartments at about 3 Wednesday morning destroyed at least five apartments and heavily damaged the 10-unit, two-story building. Windows in nearby buildings were blown out and debris was found hundreds of yards away.
Anglin says a man and a child under the age of one were killed. Their names have not been released.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but authorities suspect natural gas.
Anglin says an 11-month-old baby was flown with serious injuries to the hospital. Six other people suffered minor injuries.
