A convicted child killer from Geneva County is getting another day in court.
The Alabama Supreme Court has upheld an appeals court ruling for Steven Preachers.
The Samson man was convicted in August of 2005 of killing a toddler.
Prosecutors contended 21 month old Angel Whitley died after she was slammed head-first into a dresser because she would not stop crying.
Preachers was sentenced to life in prison without parole, but the appellate courts ruled he deserved a new trial because there was no minority representation on the jury that convicted him.
Preachers is being held without bond in the Geneva County Jail.
A trial date has not been set.
