BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A tax due date is looming for Hurricane Katrina victims in Alabama.
The Internal Revenue Service in Birmingham said the April 17th tax deadline is the last chance for taxpayers that were in the hurricane zone to file a 2005 tax return and avoid interest and penalties.
That also assumes individuals filed for an extension beyond last October.
The rule affects 11 counties - they are: Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Mobile, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Washington counties.
