DUI Simulation

With prom season underway, the Coffee County Sheriff's Department is personalizing the dangers of drinking and driving.

Sheriff's Department D.A.R.E. Officer, Misty Smith conducted a simulation of being under the influence.

The students drove golf carts wearing specially designed goggles that give the feeling of being under the influence.

For one graduating senior, it made him think twice about ever drinking and driving:

"We saw the video of the families that are affected by the case of D.U.I.” said Scott Jones, Kinston High School, senior. “It makes you think not to drink and drive, especially after prom."

Thursday night, Kinston prom will be held at the school. Twenty-nine seniors will graduate this year.
