It's a dilemma faced by each district across Alabama.
Policy is determined by each individual school district. In Covington County, seniors who don't pass the test cannot participate:
And several parents of high school seniors in the Covington School District say it's "not fair."
If a student successfully completes the needed 24 credits of work, but fails the exit exam. He or she cannot walk during the graduation ceremony.
The parents say they realize that the child cannot receive a diploma, but they say that student should at least be able to receive a "certificate of attendance."
News 4 tried to get in contact with Covington County School Supt. Ronnie Driver about the policy, but were unsuccessful.
