Police need your help in capturing who they are calling an armed pervert.

Police are searching for a man they say is behind a weekend shooting.

However, what makes this case so serious is the suspect is a convicted sex offender.

Sunday morning around 2:30 Ozark Police responded to a shooting.

Police suspect 25-year-old Adrian McClendon of Barbour County shot a man with a nine-millimeter handgun in a parked car.

Officials say the victim's hand is shattered, but he is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, McClendon is still on the loose.

"We have known sex offender that's out of compliance and because of the violence this person has made against people in are neighborhoods, including the shooting this past Saturday night," says Deputy Chief Myron Williams of the Ozark Police Department.

Even though police say McClendon is armed and dangerous, people in this area where the shooting occurred say they are not afraid and still consider this a generally safe area.

"Well, I feel safe. It's all these other folks that come around here and do the nonsense and stuff. But it's not a bad neighborhood," says Kevon Green of Ozark.

"I do believe he certainly has friends here in Ozark that are helping him to hide out because it has been known, I believe, by several of his friends that we do have warrants on him. He's just picking the opportune times to get out," says Williams.

Police say the shooting could be drug related.

They say McClendon was released from prison last year.

Right now, there are six charges that McClendon faces, including assault first and second degree and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

There is a $500-dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Surely the police have a picture of this fella. Use your resources and post it, so as to help ID/avoid/report him.
