Alabama's Jobless Rate Steady at 3.3 Percent

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate remained unchanged in February at 3.3 percent. The state Department of Industrial Relations reports that Alabama continues below the national rate, which was 4-point-5 percent for February.

Shelby County had Alabama's lowest unemployment rate at 2. 6 percent, followed by three percent for Cleburne, Madison, Tuscaloosa and Autauga counties. Wilcox had the highest rate at 8.1 percent, followed by Wilcox County at 7.6 percent and Perry County at 7.3 percent.

Governor Riley says the figures show Alabama's economy remains strong.
