Donation Money Stolen from Elementary School

Montana Street Elementary School is picking up the pieces again, after money students collected for Enterprise tornado victims was stolen.

Monday night, security cameras caught a suspect breaking in from the back of the school and stealing a jar full of money.

The money had been collected for students at the former Hill Crest Elementary School in Enterprise.

After hearing about the theft the community has come together and donated more money to the school than was stolen.

“It shows that we are a caring community and that people want to help schools they want to help children when someone is in need they'll be there. This man just said, 'It might be me next'. He's exactly right, we don't know,” said Pam Sowell.

Parents have been notified and school officials say the money will now be locked away in a safe place.
