Body Found in Chipley Identified

There will be no bond for the man accused of killing a Chipley teenager then leaving his body inside a pond.

The body of 18-year old Daniel Eads was found Monday, floating inside this pond near Bennett Drive and Cambelton Highway in Chipley, Florida.

Chipley Police Dept. Lt. Dennis Speighton said, "We found this young male subject in the water... approximately, the water was about 6 to inches deep."

Police immediately suspected foul play.

After further investigation, authorities arrested 22 year-old Arthur Sisson Jr., and as it turned out, both men knew each other.

Investigators say Sisson took a check from his mother then asked Eads to forge that check in the amount of 200 dollars, so that both of them could split the money 50/50.

"The amount was supposed to be for $200.00 but we found out that the victim did go in there and forge the amount to $2,000 where he did proceed to end up with a large sum of money, more than what the defendant did," said Lt. Dennis Speight.

After learning of this disparity, police say Sisson asked Eads to discuss the matter in a wooded area near his home, and that's when authorities believe the murder took place.

Eads autopsy results have not yet been released, but investigators feel strongly that the cause of death was strangulation.

Sisson is currently being held at the Washington County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is May 1st when a judge will set a trial date.
