Box Marked 'Grenade' Found in Flagler Beach

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The box marked "grenades" on the side that washed ashore in Volusia County is now at Patrick Air Force Base for examination.

A bomb squad ended up finding 18 explosive shells inside the box Monday night. No one was injured.

The bomb squad from Patrick Air Force Base was called in and determined that the grenades were safe to move. The shells will be destroyed at the base.

Officials closed State Road A-1-A in Flagler Beach and evacuated five homes and two businesses after the discovery.
