A longtime correctional officer in Coffee County believes she was recently fired without just cause.
Ruth Scheipe spent 15 years at the Coffee County Jail.
During that time, she worked in just about every capacity of the facility including interim jail administrator.
Earlier this month, she was terminated for being "insubordinate".
The termination stems from an incident where inmates refused to return to their cells after losing smoking privileges.
"I told Chief Deputy Whit Worth, and Captain Moss and anyone else that would not do anything to hurt Coffee County, or the sheriff's department and that I would do the best that I could for the sheriff's department and Coffee County. Anything but illegal or unethical," said Scheipe.
Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton says Scheipe was terminated because she didn't follow jail procedures, and she'll never again work there under his administration.
