Samson Wastewater Problems

A small Wiregrass city has found itself in hot water with state environmental regulators.

This week, Samson officials received a $150 fine for a poor test reading at the town's sewage treatment lagoon.

Due to heavy rains in January, an unacceptable level of solubles was recorded in the treated water.

The city's interim water and sewer superintendent, James Dixon, says efforts are being made to remedy the problem.

In the last two years, the city has been fined several times by the Alabama Department of Environmental management for insufficient treatment of sewage water.
