MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An attorney for former Secretary of State Nancy Worley says she has been indicted by a grand jury on charges stemming from her unsuccessful campaign for re-election last year. Attorney James Anderson says he received a call from the attorney general's staff informing him of the indictment.

Arrangements are being made for Worley to turn herself in tomorrow
in Montgomery.

Anderson calls the indictment much ado about nothing. Worley, who's now first vice chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party, says nothing surprises her because she was investigated by a Republican attorney general appointed by a Republican governor.

A spokesman for Attorney General Troy King says state law prohibits prosecutors from confirming or making any comment about an indictment until after it is served on the accused.

The indictment against Worley involves felony and misdemeanor charges over a letter, fund-raising envelope and campaign bumper sticker she sent to her employees in the secretary of state's office last spring. One of her employees who was running against her, Ed Packard, complained to the attorney general.

Packard says he's pleased the attorney general followed up. Packard says there are certain things that shouldn't happen in the workplace and Worley's campaign envelop was one of them.
