"Sister" Has Advice for Small Business Owners "Do what you love"
When “Sister Schubert” got her start making those world famous rolls, she was like a lot of people out there right now...uncertain of the future, but she said today if you've got an idea that works and you love it....it can take you anywhere.

One of the most successful entrepreneurs from the Wiregrass stopped in Dothan Wednesday for a book signing. Patricia “Sister” Barnes took time out to see her consumers face to face after they've seen her face countless times on the world famous “Sister Schubert” dinner rolls.
The cook turned author had humble beginnings for her business though, cooking smal batches of dinner rolls for her church in Troy.
"My father” Barnes said, recalling her start “When i told him about my dream of starting this business he said, but honey...how much can you sell a pan of rolls for? and i said that's not the question daddy the question is how many pans of rolls can i sell"
The answer to that question?
Millions.
Even with that success, Barnes has remained humble according to her sister Charlotte. “I love getting to help her on this journey,” Said Charlotte Wood, who is responsible for her sisters nickname of “Sister” because a 1-Year old Charlotte couldn't pronounce Patricia. “ The best thing is that I get to talk about her, Sister can't go around saying “look what I've done” but I can say “Look what she's done!”
Everything wasn't always butter and rolls hough, at least financially. “Sister” recalls a time when she was like many small business owners right now, wondering where the money would come from.
"I was somewhat shocked over how i was going to finance the next step of the bakery that was when this wonderful banker came in and told me “I'm going to loan you this money but i need you to take out a life insurance policy on yourself because i believe YOU are the reason this business is going to be successful"
The sisters say that comment would hold true for anyone in any business. Even in the current economic situation. Look behind a successful business, and there's someone doing what they love with all their heart.
"It's an inspirational story at this time in peoples lives because my business really was a dream come true” Said Barnes “A Cinderella story in the grocery business in this country and if i can do it...anyone can do it."
The new Cookbook “"Cast Your Bread Upon The Waters" is available at multiple local retailers.
