ENTERPRISE, Ala. (AP) - Enterprise officials are urging their citizens to be wary of unscrupulous contractors.
Tara Emnett, special projects coordinator, says at least for the time being the city has not hired ANY businesses or contractors to perform work. She said only volunteers are involved in the cleanup.
In a press statement today, Emnett said residents can verify local vendors licenses by calling City Hall at (334) 348-2600.
When Governor Riley declared a state of emergency - that triggered a state law against unconscionable pricing. That's something that is at least 25 percent above the normal price. The law carries a fine of up to one thousand dollars per violation and violators could be banned from doing business in the state.
City officials also have issued a plea for certain food items - they include boxed juices, protein bars and cereal bars. Donations should be taken to the Enterprise Recreation Center at 421 Lee Street.
