Additional security measures are in place today in Cherokee County. The action was taken after a school bus was shot at yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon while carrying students home from school.
Investigators say they discovered six bullet holes in the bus. None of the four students on board at the time were injured, nor was the bus driver.
At least one bullet went through a window. Authorities believe the shots came from an automatic weapon fired from an abandoned house along Alabama Highway Nine. School resource officers are riding the bus today and will be followed by a Cherokee County sheriff's deputy.
