A nine-year old Birmingham boy is back in school after being suspended from school earlier this week for pulling out a toy gun during class.
The boy brought a one-inch GI Joe toy pistol to school, but was suspended all the same because of a no tolerance policy.
School officials later decided the toy was not a violation of a zero-tolerance policy
against weapons.
His eight-year-old friend had told a school administrator about the gun. He says he turned in his friend because his mom taught him that guns are dangerous. As a result of doing what was right he was awarded a Super Student Certificate and was honored at a special ceremony Thursday.
