A prisoner fight has sparked a new issue at the problem plagued temporary jail behind the Geneva County Courthouse.
Earlier this week, authorities say several female inmates got into a brawl inside the fiberglass structure.
However, correctional officers had difficulty opening the cell to get inside.
One woman reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Geneva Co. Commission Chairman Fred Hamic says, "An inmate was trying to get the attention of the jailer. They were kicking the metal doors, and caused it to bend. The jailer heard the fight, but couldn't get inside. The door wouldn't open to get to the fight."
Hamic says it'll cost around $1000 dollars to re-key the jail doors to allow correctional officers easy access in the event of another emergency.
