Trial Begins in Sexual Torture Case

Opening statements are expected to get underway in a highly sensational case at Covington County courtroom.

Former Andalusia Police Officer Joel Kelley is charged with two-counts of sexual torture, one-count of sodomy and one-count of assault.

The case stems back two-years-ago and is alleged to have involved two female victims.

Kelley retired as a policeman in 1999 and initially had his bond set at $4 million dollars.

If convicted, the 62-year-old could be sentenced to life in prison.
