The State Board of Community Colleges in Tallahassee authorized Chipola's request to add a four-year business degree to its curriculum.
The college was founded in 1947 to provide the first two years of college.
But now, one can earn a four-year bachelor's degree in secondary education and business management.
In these two areas of study, it'll allow students to stay closer to home.
VP of Chipola College Instruction Dr. Kitty Myers says, "It’s nearly impossible for many people with jobs and families to travel to a four-year university. So it'll make it easier for the folks in that situation."
Chipola will offer free tuition to the first 20 students who enroll in the business management program.
