Local schools are participating in severe weather awareness week by holding tornado drills.
When storms like the one last November hit our area, it's important for everyone to get in a place where they're safe from flying debris.
Students in the classroom are no different.
Montana Magnet students filed into the hallway Wednesday and got on their knees with their hands over their heads.
Houston County Emergency Management Director Clark Matthews was there to help with the drill.
“It was great. Clark Matthews and his assistant were very helpful all in all i feel it was a learning experience,” said Sue Clark, Montana Magnet Principal.
Meanwhile, Georgia officials postponed the severe weather drill planned for Wednesday because of bad weather.
The drill is scheduled for Friday in that state.
