ANDALUSIA, Ala. (AP) - Police in Andalusia say they've identified the mother of a newborn who was left at Andalusia Regional Hospital Friday.
Police Chief Wilbur Williams says the woman's husband gave
investigators a tip.
Officers initially did not think the woman who brought the baby to the hospital was the mother, but now they believe she is.
Officers say the woman said she delivered the baby girl at home while her husband was at work. She didn't want him to know she was pregnant.
The baby, who suffers from a low temperature and a lack of oxygen, is receiving treatment at a hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
