Geneva city's tax revenues are up nearly 10-percent over projections. City officials granted a five-percent salary increase for all its employees who have at least a year's service.
For the first time since 1985, the city will also increase its fee structure for volunteer firefighters who respond to emergency calls.
For instance, a firefighter will see their pay go from $12 to $20 dollars for responding to a fire call.
The fees are allotted to help defray the cost of responding to an E-911 call.
By increasing the fee, the Geneva City Council voted each firefighter could not respond to more than two emergencies per week.
