The task forces appointed as part of Envision Dothan are moving forward.
The Quality of Life Task Force has met seven times since October, increased their membership to 22, and has 80 percent attendance at meetings.
Also, the Regional Task Force now has 44 task members, including 25 mayors, and newly appointed sub-committees.
The chairmen of both those initiatives spoke at Tuesday’s commission meeting.
Quality of Life Task Force Chairman Dr. Lawson Bryan says, "Four areas where our discussion has centered and is centering now is these: enhancing the arts in our area, downtown revitalization and being supportive of that, addressing the needs of senior citizens, and expanding recreation opportunities in our area."
"We've expanded the Regional Task Force to eight counties. Eventually we want to include Georgia and Florida. But we're trying to take it one step at a time. This is a long term commitment from us," said Mike Schmitz, Chairman of Regional Task Force.
As part of this initiative, an additional 16 sub-committees have been created to address the Envision Dothan issues.
