KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (AP) - Space shuttle Atlantis is creeping toward the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center.

NASA's preparing to launch the shuttle next month for a trip to the international space station. It's the first of up to five shuttle mission on tap this year. It's the most ambitious schedule since 2002.

The six-man crew will be delivering a new segment and pair of solar arrays that will power the station.

Thursday's trip of about three and a-half miles from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the launch pad is expected to take about six hours.
