A suspect in the death of an elderly Dothan man has been sentenced to more than 30 years in prison.
Michael Ray Jackson was charged with capital murder for the 2004 beating and strangulation death of 64-year-old Dewey Walker.
The victim's body was found in his home on Shields Court. He had been dead nearly a week.
Police say Jackson and three others allegedly wanted to steal Walker's van and the sound system inside.
Jackson pled guilty to murder and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
He also pled guilty to receiving stolen property and received a 10 year sentence.
Jackson's trial was scheduled to begin next Monday at the Houston County Courthouse.
