Produce Recall

Melissa's World Variety Produce of Vernon, California, recalled 150 packages of Melissa's Fresh Bay Leaves in three-fourths ounce packages.

A routine sampling by the Georgia Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially harmful organism.

The product was distributed to the Wal-Mart Opelika Distribution Center and was sent to Wal-Mart stores in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi.

Listeria infections only cause short-term symptoms in healthy people, but can cause serious illness or death for young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
