A Northwest Florida law enforcement official is arrested and as a result, fired from the force.
Samuel McCormick was arrested by Florala Police and charged with first degree sexual abuse involving a child.
McCormick, who was a policeman in Defuniak Springs, was fired after the arrest.
In a written release, Defuniak Springs City Marshal, Michael Adkinson, says he made the decision after speaking with Florala Police.
No other details of the case have been released at this time.
Assistant Police Chief Mark Weeks said Tuesday, "It hurts. There’s no doubt about it. It crosses across every occupation, race. We hate it, the events surrounding Officer McCormick."
Tuesday, McCormick was released from the Covington County Jail in Andalusia on a $150,000 dollars bond.
