A date is set for the murder trial of a Houston County man.

Forty-six-year-old Harold Corbitt of Cottonwood is accused of gunning down another man during an argument.

Twenty-two-year-old Christopher Whittle was shot to death outside a Dothan night spot last February.

Police say the shooting happened after whittle and his wife got into an argument, and Corbitt tried to intervene.

Corbitt led officers on a high-speed chase following the incident, but he eventually pulled over and surrendered in the parking lot of the Houston County jail.

The trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 12 at the Houston County Courthouse.

Judge Larry Anderson will hear the case.

Corbitt remains free on $10,000 bond.
