DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A gunman wearing a camouflage helmet has been taken into custody. Witnesses say he ordered doctors and nurses out of a small outpatient medical center.

Patients fleeing the medical center today reported hearing shots fired.

City spokeswoman Cynthia Greene says police reported that no one was injured and that the standoff at the Primecare medical center ended with the gunman taken into custody.

Police Chief John Powell later identified the man taken into custody as 19-year-old Jason Murphy.

Powell earlier said authorities were negotiating with the man in the Primecare building, which was surrounded by police and sheriff's officers. The building is on Westgate Parkway a few miles from the heart of downtown Dothan.

During the standoff, the man was photographed wearing a camouflage helmet and holding a rifle with blood on his hands. Initial reports quoted witnesses as saying he wore camouflage clothes. But he was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved gray shirt when arrested and in photographs taken during the standoff.
