A potential disaster has been averted in Mobile, there will be a Christmas parade this year after all.
Just over a week ago the board of directors of Mobile Christmas Parade, Incorporated, decided to change the name of the event to the Jolly Holiday Parade. The board decided to drop the word Christmas from the title to be, "more inclusive." But the effort at political correctness backfired, angering many residents who threatened to boycott the event.
The parade board refused to reverse their decision or adopt a compromise title. Thursday afternoon the parade was canceled.
However Mobile city leaders took control and announced last light that there will be a Christmas parade this year. Its scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Mobile.
By the way, the event's new name: The Mobile Christmas Holiday Parade.
