A new monument now stands in Veterans Park at Fort Rucker.
The statue is dedicated to those who served in Vietnam with the First Squadron, Ninth Cavalry.
The First of the Ninth remains the most decorated unit including three medals of Honor in Vietnam and 18 previously.
The military unit also has two US postage stamps issued in its honor. People from five states showed up for the dedication of the memorial.
