Family and friends said their final good-byes to a state trooper who was shot and killed by her ex-husband over custody of their three-year-old son.
It was a somber mood and not a dry eye in the church.
The funeral was sad because everyone knew how senseless Trooper Jacobs death was.
Her children are without their mother, parents are left without their daughter, and state troopers without their sister and comrade.
Hundreds packed the New Freedom Church in Webb, to pay their last respects to Jacobs.
In the funeral one trooper described Jacobs as easy-going and always smiling every time she walked into the State Troopers Dothan post.
A fairly new trooper, Jacobs had only been traveling the roads of Henry County for about three months.
Previously she worked as an Ozark police officer.
Troopers say she'll be sorely missed, and the funeral brought the fact out even more.
Cpl. Tracey Nelson of AL State Troopers-Dothan post said, “Talked about her as life, talked about who she was as a person and how we can all learn from that and learn from what has happened and more on and be able to be a stronger organization and stronger person.”
Trooper Jacobs is survived by three children, two of whom were from a previous relationship.
They are with their biological father.
