Classes for Dothan city schools don't begin until Monday but teachers are already getting pumped up for the upcoming school year.

Virtually every employee working for the Dothan City School System packed the convocation center at Northview High School this morning.

They were there to rally around one another to ensure the upcoming school year is a success.

Teachers showed up in full-force, supporting their specific school by donning its colors.

It was a morning filled with pep talks and school officials say they are extremely eager to get this school year going.

Local leaders referenced the recent success of the Mobile County Public School System. In 2001, they were at the bottom of almost every education list in the state. After they implemented the Yes We Can program, they went from worst to first.

The Yes We Can program enlists the help of the entire community to make sure education is a top priority.

Dothan school officials are looking to repeat the success of their Mobile County counterparts.

Dothan city school students head back to class on Monday and Houston County school students start this Friday.
