A familiar face has taken over as Geneva County’s new probate judge.
Long-time County Commissioner Fred Hamic says he plans to fulfill his campaign promise of making it an office for the people.
Hamic began learning the process of issuing license plate tags from his deputy clerks.
Hamic replaces long-time incumbent Harry Adkinson, who was defeated in the June Republican Primary.
In addition to his probate judge's duties, Hamic will serve as county commission chairman.
Alabama Governor Bob Riley is soon expected to appoint someone to fill Hamic's unexpired term on the Geneva County Commission.
Hamic left the post when he ran for probate judge.
