Leaders in one Pike County city say they're expecting a major development boom.
Troy officials are teaming up with Hugh Wheelless of Wheelless Development in Dothan to convert 450 acres into residential and commercial development.
The property is located off Highway 231 behind Lowe’s.
City leaders say this will not only bring more homes and jobs to the area, but also create a much needed road linking Highway 231 to the Troy Sportsplex.
“It's just a time when growth is abounding. Obviously, what Mr. Wheelless is attempting to do will compliment that growth. We're really looking forward to the planned community concept,” said Mayor Jimmy Lunsford.
Mayor Lunsford says this will be the first planned residential unit for Troy.
